Gas safety & Commercial Gas Safety

Gas Safety checks are carried out 12 monthly. This reduces the risk of any appliance failing and potentially becoming dangerous.

UK Engineers Gas Safety inspections will be as follows.

Combination boilers:

  • Gas rate, check the appliance is running correctly to the data badge
  • Flue gas analyser
  • Gas tightness, check whole gas supply for any leaks.
  • Check safety feature (run boiler whilst gas supply is off, boiler should lockout)
  • Check flame picture is a crisp blue flame, not floppy or yellow
  • Check controls/thermostats
  • Overall visual inspection
  • Check gas installation

Gas Fires:

  • Turn fire on for a minimum of 5 minutes to warm the flue
  • Check the flue by means of smoke pellet/matches, any spillage within the room fails the fire
  • Clean the coals
  • Gas tightness, check whole gas supply for any leaks.
  • Gas rate, check the appliance is running correctly to the data badge.
  • Brush the burner bar
  • Check safety features
  • Overall visual inspection
  • Check gas installation

Cookers:

  • Check safety features
  • Check burner, main oven (clean if necessary)
  • Check injectors and flame picture on rings (crisp blue flame, should not go out on low rate)
  • Check gas installation
  • Overall visual inspection.
  • Check stability bracket
  • Gas tightness, check whole gas supply for any leaks.
  • Gas rate, check the appliance is running correctly to the data badge.

Gas Safety checks are not in any way classed as a service and a service is not classed as a Gas Safety. Any defects will be reported and additional work will be charged at rates agreed between the customer and UK Engineers, depending on the type of work this may cause the Gas Safety to fail until the work has been carried out to a satisfactory standard.
